Introduction

This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to install and configure a computer running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006. The course also shows you how to deploy and manage BizTalk applications in a production environment.

Audience

This course is intended for systems engineers and network administrators with two to three years of experience managing an enterprise-level Microsoft Windows Server environment.

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, students must have:

• Experience administering a Microsoft Windows-based network environment.
• Experience installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with a scripting language such as Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition or Microsoft JScript.
• Familiarity with Microsoft .NET concepts and technology.

No prior BizTalk experience is necessary.

At Course Completion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Describe the services and tools provided in BizTalk Server 2006.
• Install BizTalk Server 2006 on a computer.
• Deploy BizTalk applications to a BizTalk server 2006 computer.
• Manage and monitor BizTalk applications on a BizTalk Server 2006 computer.
• Manage BizTalk Server groups and backup a BizTalk Server 2006 computer.

Module 1: Introduction to BizTalk Server 2006

This module describes common BizTalk Server 2006 scenarios, the BizTalk messaging architecture, and the tools provided to develop, manage, and monitor a BizTalk Server environment.

• Describe the BizTalk production environment and the tools used to deploy and manage BizTalk applications.

Module 2: Installing BizTalk Server 2006

This module shows you how to plan and perform a BizTalk Server installation, and then how to configure BizTalk Server 2006 for optimal use in a production environment.

This module shows you how to deploy applications to one or more computers using BizTalk Server in a production environment.

• Creating a BAM View.
• Deploying a BAM View.
• Configuring BAM Data Collection.
• Testing BAM Data Collection.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

• Manage BizTalk services and start and stop BizTalk applications.
• Use HAT to monitor message activity and debug orchestrations.
• Use scripts to deploy and mange BizTalk applications.
• Monitor Business Activity by using Business Activity Monitoring (BAM).

Module 5: Administering a BizTalk Server Environment

This module shows you how to administer a BizTalk Server group and manage backup operations for a BizTalk Server environment.
